Last week I posted the ‘Allocation of Challenge Certificates for 2024-28’ from the Kennel Club. Rereading the chart, I may have missed that the KC is expecting the NSC and the SGHC to have two championship Shows yearly. If I have misinterpreted this, I am sure one of my readers will correct me on this.
Northern Saluki Club will be holding their second show with CCs in conjunction with Darlington Championship Show on Sunday 19th September. Judging at Darlington will be Mrs Fran Mitchell giving CCS in Salukis for the first time. (Schedules available on Higham Press). Judging the Northern will be John Walton Haddon. As of writing these notes the schedule is not available, as of yet, for the NSC show, on Higham Press but should be there shortly. With so many shows coming at quick intervals, Higham Press and Fosse Data must be run off their feet. They had the lull which was lockdown now comes the storm. Personally, I think considering all that is happening they are doing a good job.
Last Monday, Bath Championship Show was held. On our way in we ran into Jeanna Simpson, who we have not seen in a while. She said that she was having a day out visiting the show. She has now retired from judging after losing Dennis as it had been their hobby together, and it had lost the sparkle. The other person we saw after a long gap was Martine Smithson. She too has lost her husband to cancer. I remember him from the shows of long ago sitting and sketching. Martine said he was also a writer having had three books published. Hopefully we will see Martine again soon showing her Saluki.
Judging at Bath was Miss Claire Boggia. BCC, BOB was Mary Sanders Parker’s Ch Classicus Britannia JW Sh CM with the RBCC to Mary’s Classicus Olympia. DCC for his second CC went to Sarah Sawer’s Canerikie Lucan At Bumpkiss. RDCC went to Sharon & Graham Littlechild’s Ch Classicus Baroque at Ravensett. Best Puppy was the Macro’s Luachmhar Jihan. Best Veteran Debbie Copperthwaite’s Ch Noushzad Caliph Sh CM (IMP GER). Best Special Beginner, June Bater’s Merenptah Precious Dream. Well done all!
