The Lincolnshire Greyhound Trust are holding their first Greyhound, Lurcher/Sighthound & Companion Show on Sunday 13th August 2017.  The venue is Monks Dye School Playing Field, Monks Dyke Road, Louth LN11 8DY.  As part of this special day there will be a raffle and auction.  One of the items to be auctioned is a running saluki miniature statue by Anna Tolgyest Poos.  This piece of jeweler is made of cast bronze and Cuban marble.  It is a copy of a larger piece by the artist. It is numbered ‘01’ as part of an limited edition. More items are available on the Facebook page called Lincs Greyhound Gathering or contact the show organizer on 07887 372436, though not after 8.30 pm.

David Hartley has sent the following regarding the Earby walk for Welfare:
“Thirty-two dogs, mainly sighthounds, attended the 2017 Saluki Walk at Earby. Many people brought multiple dogs and one lovely KC registered pet Saluki, quite unknown to me, came  with a young lad from the neighbouring town. As usual I am greatly indebted to the church people and SWF and NSC committee members who do the work on the day.
Debs’s Welfare stall made £43 and the walk itself £419.30
Sue Taylor (Scotland) is doing the write up for the various publications. Ann Wilcock and John Davies have pictures.
Special thanks to Judith Airton (NSC Committee) for donating all the rosettes and delivering them to me at home. Also Sue and Keith Snape and Janet for a most generous donation”

We have received the latest copy of the Northern Saluki Newsletter today.  There has been more information about the big party the Club is holding next year for it’s 40th.  On the 21st April there will the championship show at Sharley Park Leisure Centre, this will be followed a dinner in the evening.  On the next day, 22nd there will be Ruby Jubilee Open Show and Companion Dog show at the Derbyshire Hotel, South Normanton.  All judges have yet to be announced.
Last Friday, the busiest day of the year with the schools all breaking up for their summer holidays, the Leeds Championship Show was held.  Hopefully for exhibitors the traffic was not too bad.  While there were classes for Salukis, there were no CC on offer for our breed, though as of 2019 we will have them there again.   Judging us was the well known Scotsman, Tom Johnson.  As I have mentioned in the recent past the Salukis have been doing very well in the ‘big ring’.  This day was not different .  BD, BV, BOB went to the Glaister’s Ch Classicus Cassander JW, ShCM with RBD to the Owen’s Caryna Khepri.  BB went to Denise Garratt and Sue Oakey’s Ch Caryna Meilichia Sh CM with the RBB to her daughter Ch Caryna Neferti JW ShCM .  Best Puppy was Mrs E Rooney’s Merenptah Wind.  Cassander went 2nd in the Hound Group and 1st the Veterans Group.
I do not always pick up all the winnings so if you have done well, at an Open Show or a Champ Show or other events and would like it mentioned in these Breed Notes please email or phone and I will happily include it.
