Bath Championship Show was held last Monday, a bank holiday.  CCs were not on offer for Salukis but we did have classes.  Judging us was Ms Sue Finnett well know for her Deerhounds.  Saluki judging was scheduled for the  afternoon, after all the breeds with CCs were judged.  Weather conditions were favorable for us and it was nice to sit out and watch all the goings on at the show.  We were scheduled with the Utility Group which does not happen very often. Running simultaneously at the Show was South West Hound Club.  I will give results for that later.

Best Bitch, BOB and Hound Group 1was Josh Duddell & Brian Mansell’s Ch Jasmine of Canerikie (Imp) with the RBB to Debby Copperthwaite’s Al Caliphs Artemis. BD went to Debby Copperthwaite’s Noushzad Caliph (Imp)
With RBD to Ch Baghdad Karim (Imp) Sh CM owned by the Ham, Brockman-Chato & Elliott-Ross partnership. Best Puppy was our own Al Zebeyda Lena at Kasaque (Imp)

Salukis at South West Hound Show were judged before the Bath Show as we were scheduled after Ridgebacks, which had an enormous entry.  Judging Salukis for the first time was Heidi Woodgate.  She chose for her BD, BOB
Donna Vaughan’s Alsahra Murano with BB to our own Kasaque Salaama.  Best Puppy was Buzz Faber’s Sufeina Against the Odds.  I am not sure how either dog fared in the Group.

Nick Bryce Smith has let me know that he will once again be representing the Salukis at the Breed Council.  He has also been elected the Vice Chairman.  So if you have any questions on the Salukis in regards to the Kennel Club he is the man to speak to.

A few judges for 2017:  Birmingham National is Miss Jenny Dove, Hound Assoc is Peter Yardley, City of Birmingham is Pam Marston-Pollock and lastly Paul Singleton will be judging at South Wales.

Last Friday was turn of Southern Counties Championship Show.  It did not rain but it was so cold it could have easily snowed.  Judging us was Breed Specialist from Germany, Ute Lennartz.  BCC, BOB was Josh Duddell & Brian Mansell’s Ch Jasmine of Canerikie (Imp), RBCC went to Ann & Paul Shimmin’s   Hislome’s Leonore Mish Cranstal (Imp).  DCC went to Ch Baghdad Karim (Imp) Sh CM owned by the Ham, Brockman-Chato & Elliott-Ross partnership with RDCC to Marie Bryce-Smith’s Kasaque Frankel.  Best Puppy was Buzz Faber’s Sufeina Kismet.  Best Veteran and winner of the Veteran Group was Ch Baghdad Karim (Imp) Sh CM.  Two ’get well’ cards were circulation at the show, one to Beryl Payne and the other to Viv Davies.  We hope both lades are out of the hospital and back on their feet soon.

Congratulations to Clair Cryssolor who has been attending the Saluki Club of America Specialty in Missouri.  Clair has posted that she now has a new champion, namely Eng Am Ch Gemini Jeu D'Esprit for Anasazi and she has finished in style.  I can only remember one other Saluki making up in both countries at that was one of Don Weiden and Frank Farrar’s bitches.

The entry is in for the Limited Show, which is to be held on Sunday 19th June at the Dobermann Club Training and Showground, in Digswell, Herts AL6 0BU.  Judging will commence after the SGHC Open Show (not before 1.30 pm)  The Judge will be Luke Johnston and his entry is 38 dogs making 41.
