Last weekend was an extremely busy weekend, probably the busiest in the dog show calendar.  We had two championship shows to attend.  Getting to both shows meant a fair bit of travelling but many exhibitors managed.  For what I heard ringside, some of the participants were planning on taking advantage of the summer weather and were planning on caravanning. 
 
The first show was The Hound Show (International) with all the judges coming from outside the UK.  Our judge was the breed specialist, Dr Francis Broadway from the USA, judging in this country for the first time.  After the judging Francis was invited to one of our ‘bring and share picnics’ hosted by Denise Garratt.  Denise and her partner Sharon Oakey, who were celebrating the crowing of their young bitch, Ch Caryna Neferti.  Co-hosting the event was Marie Bryce-Smith with a cake and many bottles of Prosecco, celebrating her new Champion, Ch Kasaque Ra Frankel of Saruk .It was a lovely way to finish a nice day off.
 
BOB, BCC for her first CC was Kathy and Martin Webb and Sibylle Benoit’s Mouniir Har Kala Rachi (Imp).  She was born on 21st August  2013.  Her breeders are S Benoit & A Benoit-Schaeverbeke.  Her sire is Int Ch Hamza Har Kala Rachi and dam, Multi Ch Gushmahi Har Kala Rachi.  RBCC went to the winner of Puppy Class, Jaisalmer Abhijishva owned by Karen Fisher.  DCC, for his first CC was Cecelia  Andersson’s Alsahra Dakota.  He was born on 31st March 2012 and his breeder is Mrs S Bounds.  His sire is Sufeina Alain and dam, Bedu Delphine of Alsahra.  RDCC went to Ch Kasaque Ra Frankel of Saruk owned by Marie Bryce-Smith.  Best Puppy was Karen Fisher’s Jaisalmer Abhijishya. Best Veteran went to Alan Burtenshaw and Gloria Cook’s Ir Ch Ferlark Nardini and Daandaz.  Well done all!
 
The second show of the weekend, which was held on Sunday was Paignton & District Fanciers Association.  Judging Saluki s was the well know hound specialist, Mrs Dagmar Kenis- Pordham.  Both of her main winners came from the Veteran Classes.  DCC, BOB and Hound Group 1 (Judge Mark Cocozza) was Ch Baghdad Karim (Imp) Sh CM from the Ham, Bockman-Cato, Elliot-Ross partnership with RDCC to John & Caroline Owen’s Caryna Curetes.  BCC went to Diane Layton-Smith’s Ch Anasha Al Noushafarin (Imp) Sh CM with the RBCC to Miss F Fahey and Rev J Shire’s Ir Ch Shokran Aquila (IKC).  Best Puppy was Linda Goss’s Classicus Baryshnikov and best Veteran, Ch Baghdad Karim (Imp) Sh CM
 
Kennel Club Breed Records Supplement arrived this week.  This issue covers breed records for April to June 2016. There were 29 puppies registered from 6 litters. Half of those were from breeders that I am familiar with. There were two Importations,  Jaisalmer Abhijishya imported from Finland, owned by Karen Fisher.  Khadin Khinzeer Al Djiibaajah was imported from Germany and owned by Mrs L & Mr T Edwards. One Export to Finland, Classicus Britannicus.
