 1ST JULY 2016.

It is with great sadness that I am reporting the passing of one of our senior members of the Saluki family.  Pat Quadling, mother of Nicola has died.  She was a behind the scene’s person always ready to help wherever needed.  During the Festival she made us beautiful tablecloths.  I know she was always there to help Nicola on her many projects whether it was  as the show manager or working on behalf of the welfare.  Our thoughts are with Nicola and her family at this time.

Houndshow (International) 2016, the Group Championship Show has assembled an International group of judges for this year.  Our judge is Dr Francis Broadway from the USA, a Saluki breed specialist.  Francis was first licensed to judge in 1988.  He was the past president of the Empire Saluki Club and is now on their board of directors.  His prefix is Elessar.  He has judged specialties in the USA, Canada and Germany.  It is his first time judging in this country. The show is being held on Saturday the 6th August at the county Showground, Stafford ST18 0BD.  Postal entries close on 4th July.  For further information please contact the show secretary, Paul Singleton on 01206 514952.  This show should have an international flavor so please come and enjoy the day.

Congratulations to Marie Bryce-Smith on being elected to the Committee of LKA (Ladies Kennel Association). In the future if you are not happy about the judge, you know who to speak to.

Last weekend the SGHC held their Open Show and their Limited Show at the same venue on the same day.  It was a long day but a very enjoyable day.  There was lots going on with voting for the photographic competition, the welfare stand, and raffles.  A big thank you to ‘the Saluki’ who provided us with a lovely lunch.  The food was delicious.  Also a very big thank you to the Committee for their hard work in bring the day together.

Helen Haywood has sent me the following news about the stand at the show:
A big thank you from Saluki Welfare Fund to everyone who gave donations, had a go on the Tombola, bought goods and placed bids in the Silent Auction at the recent SGHC Open and Limit Shows on June 19th.
£290 was raised in the Silent Auction and when all additional funds are received, the grand total will be £510 for the day. A brilliant result I am sure you will agree.
We couldn't do it with out you.'

Judging the Open Show was Bernard Barjot from France officiating over the dogs with Sibylle Benoit judging the bitches.  Gabriele Schroeter from Germany judged the Rescue Stakes.  Results are as follows.  Best in Show for the second year in a row is Liz Stephen’s Alsahra Aslan Bedu with the Reserve Best in Show and Best Opposite Sex in Show to Hilary Davies and Christine Harrison’s Charrioak Sheerzam JW.          Best Puppy in Show went to Joanne Mahon’s Canapus Impala At Iskandraya (Imp NVL). Best of Opposite Sex Puppy to Karen Fisher’s Jaisalmer Abhijishya (Imp FIN) TAF.
Best Veteran was Pauline Spilsted’s Jeshins Dynamic Deva.  Congratulations to all.

It was a very long day but I do believe most exhibitors stayed for the Limited Show.  Judging us was Luke Johnston.  Best in Show went to Hilary Davies and Christine Harrison’s Charrioak Sheerzam JW.  Reserve Best in Show and Best Opposite Sex was Cecelia Andersson’s Alsahra Dakota.  Best Puppy in Show was our own Al Zubeyda Lena at Kasaque (IMP) and Best Veteran went to Pauline Spilsted’s Jeshins Dynamic Diva.    Well done to all and especially to our young judge.

Cecelia Andersson has been unable to find her purse and mobile phone since the show.  If anyone finds these strange items mixed up with their show gear could they please let her know on telephone numbers 01784 4432268 or 01784 391607.

This weekend Blackpool Championship Show was held.  Bucking the trend for Blackpool, I understand it did not rain and even more importantly the Salukis have faired very well.  DCC, BOB, Hound Group 1 and Winner of Champion Stakes on the Day was Ch Classicus Cassander Sh CM owned by Jeannette and Alan Glaister with RDCC to Caroline and John Owen’s Caryna Curetes.  BCC for her 1st CC went to Liz and Tony Quick’s Noushzad Caliana at Jorjenjo (Imp Ger)  She was born on 14th December  2013 and her breeder is  Imke Berndt.  Her sire is Multi Ch Dahaqin Baqir and her dam, Multi Ch Peri Was Ohfra-Orli.  RBCC went to Denise Garratt & Sue Oakey’s Ch Caryna Meilichia Sh CM.  Best Puppy and 2nd in the Puppy Hound Group was Alexandra Cole’s El-Ubaids Vision Kerma Belle for Doucai.  She was also 4th in Junior Group.  Well done all

Helen, Francis Broadway's prefix is NOT Elessar (that is L. Sue Rooney-Flynn's prefix). Francis's kennel names is Odi et Amo.
