York Canine Assoc is holding their Open Show on Saturday 30th July with Saluki classes. What a busy week it has been. First event was Bath Championship Show with Lorraine Fitzgerald awarding CCs for the first time. Usually, this date is the first of the summer bank holidays but due to the Jubilee, this year it was not. The day was quite cold and breezy but fortunately no rain. She chose our own Luachmhar Jadira Kasaque for her BOB. Best Puppy was Debbie Copperthwaite’s Al Caliph Belisama. Friday, was the busiest day of the busy week. Southern Counties Championship Show was held. The promise for the day was warm and sunny conditions. It pretty much fulfilled that promise, never reaching a temperature that was uncomfortable. Everyone gathered around to toast her with cheese and wine for the special occasion. Walking around I did see many groups that had gathered for celebrations. The WHWT were the most colourful group that I saw. They had hats, banners, Pimms, delicious looking cakes celebrating the other event of the day, the Queen’s Jubilee. It really was a sight to behold. After the SCCS judging the Saluki or Gazelle Hound held their Open Show. The ring was tastefully decorated with lovely banners in a mauve colour with a photo of the queen, cammorating her very special occasion. Judging was all-rounder Simon Burton with stewards Anna Freegard and Jeannette there to assist him.
