Helena Haywood has kindly sent the following on behalf of SWF “The SGHC & SWF joint Lure Coursing and Fun Games took place on July 15th in Surrey. Several of us had nightmare journeys getting there on the M25, and arrived a little late. All the rescues that attended had a great time, with many of them having their first attempt at Lure Coursing
We had a Welfare Stall with some lovely donated items for sale and our bumper Tombola which was well patronised. Once again Pauline Thomas had generously allowed us to bring some of her spectacularly beautiful Saluki and Hare embroidered goods, for which she gives us commission.
Although not such a big attendance as we had hoped, everyone was very generous and we managed to raise over £100 for our funds.
Thank you all for coming, and we look forward to seeing you all at the SGHC Championship Show in October.
On another note, our first Welfare Calendar is well on the way into production, and should be ready for sale at the Northern Saluki Club show in September.”
At the recent Jersey Championship Show Diesel ( Ulmarra Bollinger PHD (Imp Ire } was BOB, Hound Group Winner and 3rd BIS, gaining his second CC. Judge was sighthound specialist Dagmar Kenis Pordham. Diesel is co-owend by Wendy Marshall of Guernsey and Stwart Mottershaw of Jersey.
Busy weekend, last weekend with two championship shows. The first was the prestigious Hound Show. Judging Salukis this year was the veteran breed specialist, Peter Yardley. He chose for his BCC, BOB and Best in Show Veteran, Denise Garratt and Sue Oakey’s Ch Caryna Meilichia Sh CM with the RBCC to John & Lisa Hudson’s Ch Glenoak Kamala JW. DCC for his 2nd CC went to Jeannette Glaister’s Vanechka Otis S Berega Turi (Imp) JW Sh CM with the RDCC, Best Puppy and 3rd in Puppy Hound Group to Victoria Martin’s Canerikie Vivaldi for Stalwart. After the judging there was a great get together with a table of food and drinks. Organizers of the event had circulated that the requirement to attend, was to don a hat. I have seen photos and it seemed that many of the hats were quite splendid.
