A fair warning, there will not be any Breed Notes next week as on the 16th of October the Saluki or Gazelle Hound Show is having their Championship Show.  I will probably need a week to recover as it is always a busy day but with Michael on duty as President of the Club it will be a busier day then usual.  This will be the last Club show before the centennial year so activities will be geared to that end.  One item available will be the SGHC calendar.  This year it has been produced by Carol and Chris Mackenzie Loughran featuring, mainly unseen, photos of the last 100 years.  I have seen a copy of the front cover which is a beautiful period piece of a woman walking her three Salukis.  It will be a collective item for all salukiphiles.  The Club has printed a limited edition so worthwhile purchasing as a worthy gift.

The ‘Saluki’ The magazine of the SGHC will also be there.  I know that Ann Shimmin and Kathy Webb have been working very hard in producing this bumper edition.  The theme is ‘Centennial’.  They will be on hand to answer any questions about the magazine plus take reservations for adverts in the bumper issue that will come out next year.

There will be oodles of eponymous merchandise to purchase at the show consisting of pens, t-shirts, mugs, hoodies, and baseball caps.  There will be trade stands at the show including Saluki Welfare.  As it will not be possible to use cards please bring cash or cheques.

John Davies has informed us that the Kennel Club are in the process of contacting all registered Saluki owners as they are compiling a Saluki Health Survey.  It has been a long time since one has been done so not only will it be interesting to read how healthy are breed is but what we must do to ensure a healthy breed for the future.

SKC held their second championship show of the year. Judging was Mrs A Defaye. Salukis had classes but CCs were not on offer. BOB, Best Bitch went to Liana Phillips ‘ Luachmhar Jamilah with RBB to Liana Phillips’ Vidana Amira S Berega Turi (IMP RUS) with Best Dog to Ms J Stenson’s Ch Micattura All for Me.  RBD & BSB went to Dawn Simpson’s Zxlasahlaam Gea’rr

South Wales held their championship show.  The judge elect was Hector Heathcote but due to ill health he had to withdraw from judging.  The last-minute replacement was Editha Newton.  DCC, BOB for his third and qualifying CC was Linda Aldous & Jeannette Glaister’s Jay Jp Sea Bird El Panjsher (IMP JPN) JW. He was born on the 25th October 2018.  His breeder is Jay Ito.  His sire is Int Ch/JP Ch Jay JP Love at First Sight and his dam is Victoria Kelenvorn S Berega Turi(IMP RUS) Rus Jun Ch.
RDCC went to Adele Walton Haddon’ s Badavie Don Peppino at Ilsham (IMP SWE).  BCC for her second CC went to Kathy Williams Tigsisle Totally Unique with the RBCC & Best Veteran to Her mum, Ch/Ber Ch Ulmarra Tropical Ice at Winton VW also owned by Kathy Williams. Best Puppy was Cathy Harding & Naomi Cowley’s Classicus Florentia at Ashahni.  Well done all!!
