Carolyn McCormick Smith has sent a gentle reminder to anyone who has moved house and would still like to receive mailings from the Club to let her know their new address.

Blackpool Championship Show will hopefully now take place on September 25.26.27th.  Fosse data will be taking entries from Monday 10th August 2020.  They go on to say a new on-line schedule will have to be produced with a few changes of judges which they will notify us on their site one they have acceptance from the new Judges.  Unfortunately, they cannot print a new schedule to time scale and no shows to distribute at, the entry will be open until Monday 31st August 2020, on-line only, however paper entries will be accepted no later than Monday 24th August 2020 (postmark). Hound day is Saturday 26th September, judge for Salukis will be Dianna Spavin, subject to KC approval.

In last week’s notes I commented on the different article written in the Saluki Breed Supplement of July 3rd2020. In response to my comments I received the following communication from Joanne Mahon.  Obviously, she is entitled to her opinion equally as I am mine.

“It is extremely rude of you to haven taken a pot-shot at my article through the breed notes of Our Dogs simply because my article is long. No one is holding anyone at gunpoint to be made to read it - it is your and everyone's else's prerogative whether they read it or not, but it is not right that you castigate it simply because it's long. We don't all have to live in a sound-bite world and it was Our Dogs prerogative to edit or not. They chose not to as they felt the entire article was too important to abridge.

The crux of the idea behind it is to educate those breeders and judges who have influence on our breed. If you have ever read any other article that explains Salukis in this manner then I'd like to know because it makes them much easier to understand than the information provided at most breed seminars despite the length of the article. The fact that several all-rounders have written to thank me is evidence of its importance.

You owe me an apology in print because it is not your right to diminish important education about the breed no matter how long the article might be. “
