SALUKI BREED NOTES WEEKENDING 17THMAY 2019.

Congratulations to Masha Shaverneva and Susan Rhodes’ Qazal Sarbaz Har Kala Rachi (IMP BEL).
He is a super-star, Saluki Agility Dog.  Masha has written: “It is such a misconception that Salukis are hard to train and impossible to do agility with - Altai is definitely the smartest most responsive dog I have ever run with and in just 4 agility shows we have been to, he received a lot of attention and compliments for his runs. In fact the judge said it was ‘an absolutely stunning run’ when she presented us with he rosette and trophy on Sunday.Altai is really amazing to train, so so easy compared to Afghans. He has now been moved from Beginners class straight into Competition (skipping two in-betwen levels) and we also won Achievement award which is voted for by club members for the Most Improved dog & handler team. I am starting to doubt his parentage and am inclined to think he has a border collie in his pedigree….”   I shall report further on the agility career of Altai as it is reported to me.

Nick Bryce-Smith, has contacted me wearing his ‘hat’ as Chairman of Richmond Championship Show. He can now confirm that the KC has approved Cecelia Andersson as our judge at their upcoming Championship show.  So pleased for Cecelia as she has a strong background in Salukis as her parents have owned and bred Salukis for many years in Sweden.  Their affix is Barkish.  Hound day at Richmond is Friday 6thSeptember.

The first new champion of 2019 emerged this weekend at Birmingham National Show.  Judging Salukis for her last assignment was Sue Rabey-Wilkinson.  DCC, BOB and Hound Group 2 (Judge Mike Caple) was Debbie Copperthwaite’s  home bred Al Caliphs Anjal Bey.  He was born of the 6thMarch 2014 and his breeder is his owner. His sire is Khalils Al Caliph (IMP SWE and his dam, Al Caliph Angelis.  RDCC went to Diane Layton-Smith’s Elviis Al Noushafarin Velourias IMP AUS).  BCC went to Diane Layton-Smith’s Ch Celouias Viva Vivienne Sh CM witht eh RBCC to Mary Sanders-Parker’s Ch Classicus Britannia JW Sh CM.  Best Puppy was Paul Kiernan & Olgar Blecher’s Alishamar Rafael Avec Kierlander (IMP BEL).  Best Veteran was Connie De Souza’s Ch Sufeina Jebel Ali ad Best Special Beginners went to Ms. L. Ward’s Nicolefarhi Del Borghino (IMP IT).  Well done all!!
