We are entering a new era with the passing of Queen Elizabeth 11, though a
sad time too as she is laid to rest.  It is a special time too as we see the glory of
the traditions in this country when a monarch passes on.  Something’s change but
the pageantry and traditions have remained the same throughout the centuries. Clara Belle (Claire Knowles) owner of Ch Micatura All I Breathe is a mounted policeperson in Scotland.  She and her fellow colleagues, in full uniform, had the honour of guarding the Queen’s coffin on it’s way to the Holyroodhouse, the official site of her residence in Edinburgh.  I hope to include more on Clara’s experience in next week’s notes.

While I have never actually had any personal experience with the late Queen, I nearly did quite a few years ago.  This incident took place at the stable of the late Dick Hern, the throughbred racehorse trainer who had stables in West Ilsley, Oxon.  My friend use to work for him riding out horses, she did say only the fillys as they were worried about her safety.  This friend and myself with her Borzois use to go to dog shows together.  On this particular incident we had been to a show, I think it was Midland Counties as we were returning and it was dark.  Anyway, we entered the yard, after not saying anything all day she said “we have to be very quiet as the Queen is here checking on her horses”.  We starting unloading her dog and other paraphernalia from the car when out shot a cat.  Well, we all know Salukis and a running cat.  There we were thinking, what would the Queen think of the cat running through the stables with a couple of Salukis on it’s tail with two people chasing them.
My friend was thinking ‘job gone’.  Fortunately, none of that did happen as I managed to leave the yard with as little fuss as possible.  It was a story of what if?

Entries for the SGHC 2022 Championship Show will be closing on-line on Sunday 25th September, so this will be the last reminder.  Judging will be Mrs Janette Cotterill.  The show will be held on Sunday 16th October at the Kennel Club Building (West Hall) Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire CV8 2LZ. Dog Judging will start at 10.00am followed by bitches.

The KC Gazette has announced some new judging appointments for 2023.  Hound
Association will be Mrs R Wray, East of England (first time giving tickets in Salukis) is Mrs J Kay.  She is a Dachshund judge.  Welsh KC is  Mrs Sue Rabey-Wilkinson, City of Birmingham, Mr Graham Hill, South Wales is Ms Liz McKnight.
