In last week’s Breed Notes I stated incorrectly the date for the upcoming lure trial.  The following information with the correct date has been sent by Elaine Stanmore on behalf of SGHC

“A Lure Coursing meeting is planned for Sunday 26th November at Walton on the Hill, Surrey. If anyone is interested please contact Cecilia Andersson email: cicci@barakisch.co.uk or telephone 07809486496 and leave a message. A walk could be organized for anyone not interested in running their Salukis.” Elaine goes on to say: “The latest edition of The Saluki is now available. As well as the regular features (letters, Salukis in the News, Championship results, Artist’s Gallery, Arabic Names,  etc.) it also includes a review of the Giacometti Exhibition, a profile of the Saklawi Salukis, Hypothyroidism Health Report, Achieving a German Title, Advertisements and more.To subscribe please contact the Editor, Kathy Webb email: kathywebbsghc@gmail.com or telephone 01737 353279.”

Sylvia Pass has informed me that the adults in her kennel are doing well.  The original owner of these dogs is deciding which ones she wants to take home with her, as they are still legally hers.  Sylvia still has 8 puppies remaining with her.  She needs to find homes for 6 male puppies.  She has rehomed 5 puppies, which are all doing well in the new homes and has received some wonderful photos of how the puppies have settled in.  Besides needing homes for the puppies there are several adults needing homes also.  They are both dogs and bitches.  These dogs are all very people orientated and clean in the house.  If you think you can help, please contact Sylvia on 01333 353546

Nicola Warner has written the following: “Every year our dogs and other animals have to endure the firework season, for weeks before November 5th and weeks afterwards. Animals everywhere cower and shake and are terrorized by bangs and explosions that they make and we humans feel as though we are living in a war zone. Those of us with dogs do our best to calm and reassure them through this awful time and I can only imagine how people with horses and other livestock go on. A petition has been circulated with the title " Change the laws governing the use of fireworks to include a ban on public use....." This petition has received the requisite number of signatures needed so that there will now be a debate in Parliament. The date for this debate is January 29th 2018. I urge all of you who feel that it is beyond time that the law is changed to contact your M. P and ask him to speak on your and your dog’s behalf January 29th, 2018”

Congratulations to Ch Baghdad Karim Sh CM, and his handler Steve Ham, at the Welsh Kennel Club Top Welsh dog, he was crowned runner-up.
