I have received a couple of emails with reports of successes for Salukis.  Debbie Coperthwaite’s Orlie’s (Noushzad Calipha Orlie went Best in Show, for her second time at South West Hound Club.  This gives her enough points for her Sh CM.  At that same show Best Puppy in Show was won by Mansell, Duddell and Johnston’s Canerikie Cataline.

Mary Sanders-Parker has contacted to let me know that her Classicus Britannia JW won, at Reserve Best in Show at the Thetford Dog Club Show on Sunday 13th August.  The judge was hound specialist Pamela Mottershaw

The following information I have taken from the group Exhibitor Choice & Voice:  It seems from January 2019 onwards all judges, no matter level you are judging must sit an examination.  This, I assume also includes judges from outside the UK and want to judge in this country

APPOINTMENT OF JUDGES AT LIMITED, OPEN AND CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS WITHOUT CCs FROM 2019 ONWARDS
Following a number of enquiries from judges and inviting societies, the Kennel Club would like to clarify the matter of the appointment of judges at limited and open shows and for non CC classes at championship shows as of 1st January 2019 when the Judges Competency Framework (JCF) begins.
At shows held on or after 1st January 2019, no person should be appointed who has never judged before, unless they have undertaken the new Kennel Club mandatory requirements. All aspiring judges must have completed the introductory education and training. Anyone hoping to judge for the first time in 2019, and those with some judging experience but not yet on a breed club B list, should now work towards meeting all of the Level 1 requirements, (and other level requirement) which can be found at www.thekennelclub.org.uk/…/jcf_guide_to_being_a_dog_show_ju…
City of Birmingham Canine Association is kindly offering breed club officials and other interested parties the opportunity to ask questions about the JCF at its championship show at Stoneleigh Park, near Coventry, Warwickshire on the weekend of 2nd and 3rd September 2017.
The Vice Chairman of the Kennel Club Judges Committee, Jeff Horswell, will be on hand along with Kennel Club staff at the show where informal ‘drop in’ sessions will be held at noon and 2.30pm on both the Saturday and Sunday. The noon session is designed for breed club officials, while the 2.30pm one is aimed at a more general audience, although people are welcome to attend whichever time slot suits them best. The venue will be the Strollers restaurant, between halls 1 and 2, which will be well sign-posted within the halls of the show.

I have received a copy of the KC’s “ Breed Records Supplement” for April to June 2017.  There were four litter with a total of 20 puppies born registered during this period.  Mrs V-a Mc Nab (ne Tompkins) had a litter of 7 puppies.

Mrs KH Williams had a litter of 1.  The other 12 puppies I am unfamiliar with their breeding.  One importation which is Elvis Al Noushararin (IMP AUT)  He was imported by Mrs D Leyton-Smith.  One Champion Certificate for Fernlark Schussboomer, Junior Warrant for Classicus Britannia and Show Certificates of Merit to Vanechka Ots S Berega Turi (IMP RUS) and Velourias Viva Vivienne.

Welsh Championship Show was held last Friday.  Judging Salukis was breed specialist Nina Neswadba from Austria. Her BOB, DCC, BV Hound Group 4 was Ch Classicus Cassander JW Sh CM with Ham, Bockman-Chato & Elliot-Ross’ Ch Baghdad Karim (IMP Sh CM).  Mansell & Duddell’s Ch Jasmine of Canerikie (IMP) JW.  Reserve Bitch CC went to Garratt & Oakey & Owen’s Glenoak Luna of Caryna.  Best Puppy was Sawyer’s Canerikie Lucan at Bumpkiss.

A reminder that the Uk Sighthound will be holding a Open Lure Coursing competition on Sunday 1st October at Great Wolford, Shipston on Stour CV36 5NQ.  The objective of the club is to work for working qualifications that will be approved by the Kennel Club.  Entries are restricted to members of supporting breed and lure coursing clubs.   Information can be downloaded on the web by searching UK Sighthound Sport Showcase or by contacting Sarah Meadham, The Book Ferret, Arundel, West Sussex BN18 9AB.
