It has been a very busy time here with shows, house guests, centennial activities and family get-together to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.  Hence, no Breed Notes last week. Shows are coming fast and furiously so I am trying to keep on top of them.  I shall refrain from posting closing dates as they change on a daily basis.

The first show I will review is SKC.   Judging was Ben Reynolds-Frost.  BCC, BOB was Claire Knowles’ CH Micattura All I Breathe of Mahziba with the RBCC to Liana Phillips’ Luachmhar Jamilah.  DCC for his second CC went to Nicola Quadling’s
Classicus Alron with Malenkhai.  RDCC and BP was Jacki & Alan Bloomfields’ Caryna Hyperion.  Best Veteran went to Sharon Oakey and Denise Garratt’s Ch Caryna Neferti JW Sh, CM.  Best Special Beginner was Miss Simpson’s Dawn
Zxylasahlaam .

Next show was Bath with hound specialist Mark Cocozza judging.  It was a very long day as Salukis were about the 5th breed in the appointed ring.  Unfortunately, one breed that was judged in that ring  proceeded very slowly casing the back-log.
BCC, BOB went to Natasha Hamilton’s Lu Ch Alishamar Roxane (IMP BEL) for her second CC. with the RBCC to Mary Sanders Parker’s Classicus Felicitas.  DCC for his third and qualifying CC went Tricia & Michelle Ulyatt’s Fernlark Legend of Cornhaze JW.  He was born on the 15th August 2017 and his breeders are Mr KA & Mrs M Goulden.  His sire is Ch Fernlark Alsace JW and his dam, Kirman Dafnia at Fernlark.  RDCC went Ms J Stenson’s Ch Maicattura All for Me.  Best Puppy was Caryna Stephano to Abayomi owned by the Cannon & Wikstead partnership.  Best Veteran and group 2 in the Veteran challenge was Tony and Liz Quick’s Ch Noushzad Calliana at Jorjenjo (IMP GER) Well done all!

On Thursday, just down the road from Bath was Southern Counties Championship Show.  Judging there was Karin Hedberg from Sweden.
DCC, BOB went to Ch Jay JP Sea Bird El Panjsher JW (IMP JPN) owned by Linda Aldous & Jeannette Glaister.    RDCC went to Debbie Copperthwaite’s Ch Al Caliphs Anjal Bey.  BCC went to the Ireson, Dann, Ferris  & Consentini partnership’s, Ch Jazalle Anneqa  with the RBCC to Diane Layton-Smith’s Velourias Dee Dee Vine.  Best Veteran was Liana Phillips’ Ch Vidana Amira S Berga Turi (IMP RUS) ShCM ShCEx).  Best. Junior was Mary Sanders Parker’s Classic Felicitas JW.

Our busy time continued with the SGHC Championship Show and the Gala dinner on the Friday.  I will review this next week.  In the meantime, Ann Shimmin has messaged me with information regarding the Club’s magazine: ‘The Saluki Magazine will be enclosing a key ring celebrating the Centenary of the SGHC with every magazine that is purchased.  Key rings will also be circulated to individual SGHC members in due course.  Would recipients please check envelopes before disposing of them - to ensure that the keyrings are not inadvertently overlooked’.

SALUKI BREED NOTES WEEKENDING 26th MAY 2023

The Kennel Club has posted on their ‘Find a Judge’ website that Ute Lennartz will now be judging Crufts in 2024.  Originally, she was judging Crufts 2025

Ann Shimmin has sent the following: “THE SALUKI MAGAZINE – CENTENARY EDITION will be on sale at The Saluki or Gazelle Hound Championship Show on Friday 2nd June.   Cost per copy - for those collected from the Stand is £10
Subscriptions 2023:
£13 – by post within UK*
£18 - by post within Europe
£25 – by post to the remainder of the world
*Copies collected from The Saluki stands at either Crufts or SGHC Ch Shows will be available at £10. Any increase is always regretted but unfortunately it is impossible for The Magazine to absorb the sharp rise in postage costs (worldwide).  For some countries postage now exceeds the price of The Saluki.
As another part of the contribution to the Centenary Celebrations from The Magazine Team - all those attending will be greeted with ‘Bucks Fizz and Danish’ to start their day.   We look forward to seeing everyone!”

Anna Freegard, show contact for the SGHC has posted that gazebos and tents are welcome at the upcoming championship show.  The plan is to have an ‘’outdoor’ show.
