We had a lovely day at Manchester Championship Show.  Caroline and John Owen with the help of Caroline Pickering (wonderful cakes) celebrated the crowning of their Caryna Curetes.  Everyone enjoyed the delicious champagne, cake and nibbles.  Caroline has told me that her feet have not hit the ground, as they are so thrilled to have made Curetes a champion.

Judging Salukis was the well know hound specialist, Per Iverson from Norway.  It has been 4 years since Per judged our breed so it will be interesting to read his critique, when it is published. BCC, BOB for her third CC was Jean Luc Lemouzy’s Al Zubeyda Iman.  She was born on the 1st of December 2013 and her breeder is her owner.  Her sire is Ch Al Zubeyda Fodeil and her dam, Ch Elamir Bella Kissing Star.  Iman is the first bitch to actually reside outside the country and to return to complete her title.  RCC went to our own Al Zubeyda Lena at Kasaque (Imp Fra) JW, who was also bred by Jean Luc Lemouzy.  DCC for his first CC went to Steve & Ann Ham’s Bendegedig Bazinga.  He was sired by Classicus Castiel and his dam is Baghdad Diva.  He was born on the 28th September 2013 and his owners are his breeders.  RDCC went to Michelle & Kelvin Goulden’s Fernlark by Design JW.  Best Puppy and 4th in Puppy Hound Group went to Mary Parker Sanders’ Classicus Britannia.  Well done all!!

Congratulations to Jeannette Glaister and Vanechka Otis S Berega Turi (Imp) on qualifying for his Junior Warrant.  Congratulations to Ch Caryna Neferti JW, Sh CM on qualifying with a Bronze Good Citizen.

Jimmi Johnston-White has most kindly emailed us the Saluki pages from the 1969 Ladies Kennel Club Show.  Jimmi has stated that it was a one day show that was held at Olympia.  Judging our breed was Miss M (Mary) Long. (Amena) It looks like she had an entry of 51. Tessa Abbott was showing her Ch Burydown Pasha , Christ Ormsby was showing Ch Yazid Burydown Vasara, Ann Blake with Reishan Shaheen, Buryl Payne & Phil Beeley with Tahawi Nassrin of Ilsham, Ann Birrell withTazi Alianza.  Many of the Kennel names are well remembered with Tahawi, Sedeki, Burydown, Knightelleington, Windswift, Daxlore.  The only person’s name that is still showing is Peter Yardley. Peter was showing Bedouin Dahili and Windswift Shahin.  Jimmi has stated that “there was prize money on offer in all classes, 1st prize was £2.00, 2nd prize £1.00 and third prize 10/.”   He goes on to say” While this sounds very tempting, less so was the removal of dogs, early removal for those living more then 50 miles from the venue 5pm, for all other exhibitors 6pm.
