The Saluki or Gazelle Hound are running a “Requirements of a Dog Show Judge Seminar” with accredited trainer Jeff Horsell. The seminar is one of the mandatory seminars aspiring judges mast take to fulfil the requirements of Level 1. It will be held on 13th July 7pm on-line via Zoom. Registration is required. There are some upcoming Open Shows with Saluki Classes. The first is South Yorkshire Hound Assoc. on 30th July. Judging Salukis is John Bloor (Pashtari Afghans), Thame & Oxfordshire County Canine Society on 17 August. Judging is breed specialist, Anna Freegard. South West Essex Canine Assoc better known as SWECA is holding their show on 29th August. Judge is Lisa Tyler-Jackson who is a hound specialist. Hound Show 2022 is celebrating ‘The Diamond Jubilee’. Saluki exhibitors will be taking this one step further with ‘Jubilee Hats for Hounds’, plus a bring and share picnic after judging. Everyone is welcome, don your best hat and join the party.
Another judge has been ratified for 2023. Ann Barrett will be judging at The National, Birmingham in May.
The SGHC will be holding their 2022 Open Show on Friday 3rd June 2022 at the Newbury Showground, Priors Court Road, Hermitage, Thatcham RG18 9QZ. The judging will commence after the Southern Counties Championship Show. Judging at The Open Show is Simon Burton. The entries are18 dogs making up 19 entries 21 Bitches making 24 entries. That is a total of 39 dogs with 43 entries. SGHC, at the show, will be launching details of the upcoming centennial with a list of events. Plus, on sale will be an assortment of Centennial articles to be purchased. Purchasing these articles will be part of the program to fund our special year. Also, we will be asking, in the near future for sponsorship of classes for next year. In these notes, next week I will put in further information.

Last Friday, Scottish Kennel Club held their championship show. Judging Salukis was Miss Jenny Startup. BCC, BOB for her second CC was Ms C E Knowles’s Micattura All I Breathe of Mahziba with the RBCC to Mary Sanders Parker’s Ch Classicus Olympia. DCC went to Jeannette Glaister’s Ch Vanechka Otis S Berega Turi JW with RDCC to Ms J Stenson’s Ch Micattura All for Me
