Little news to report for this week so I will ramble for a short bit.  In my notes of the 15thJuly I posted the top three entry numbers at championship shows were ‘breed specialist’.  Since then, all shows, but two, have had either hound specialist or all-rounders judging them. First time judges have not fared too badly as Saluki people seem to think it is worth giving them a try.   In the last posting of an entry, I have seen, there are 9 dogs and 7 bitches for a Championship show.  One factor could be expenses of travelling as this particular show is not in one of the most convenient locations.  Whilst saying that I do feel sorry for the host society who have put great effort into making an enjoyable day in our completive sport.  It is not their fault as they can only look at the KC judging list to choose from.   About three years ago we had the big shake up of the system of how potential judges became actual judges.  Since then, I am not sure we have seen any new breed specialist judges that have managed to achieve the stardom of judging within that system.  There were a good number of judges that came up the old system at the same time as myself but most of us have retired.  So why is there such a gap?  Have the Breed Clubs not done their jobs in training or has the KC made it impossible for new breed specialist to come up the ranks?    To finalise we pick and choose our judges/shows which we hope will give us something in return.

Darlington Championship Show, was the last unreported show.  Judging was Mrs VE Phillips.  DCC, BOB went to Cathy Harding & Naomi Cowley’s Ch Classicus Odysseus at Ashahni with RDCC to Michelle & Patricia Ulyatt’s Fernlark Legend of Cornhaze.  BCC went to Mary Sanders Parker’s Ch Classicus Olympia with RBCC to Denise Garratt & Sue Oakey’s Caryna Esperanza.  Best Puppy was Mary Sanders Parker’s Classicus Felicitas.  Best Veteran went to Alexandra Cole’s Jun Ch Voice Of MY Heart Neshama Tova (IMP). Well done all!!

In the ‘Our Dogs’ leader board for Top Dogs calculated from results up to 1st September is Ch Classicus Olympia.

Any comments on my ramblings are welcomed.
