The details of this are available on the website www.nothernsalukiclub.co.uk” Gay Robertson has sent me information regarding a lure trial. We have had great fun with our Salukis attending, so I do hope a few more people will take advantage of the day and come out and have a trial with their hounds. Gay writes: “Owners of registered pedigree Salukis (KC or FCI) are invited to a lure coursing trials meeting organised by UK Sighthound Sport on Sunday, February 23 at Borrego Stud, Moreton-in-Marsh, Glos. GL56 9TB. The course is on grass (green, no mud!) with a drag lure, considered safer than the closed circuit type. Complete novices are welcome to "have a go" as well as the more experienced who would like to get their hounds licenced to run at the three Championship meetings held by this club each year. These licences are recognised by the FCI as well as the Kennel Club, enabling owners to enter European lure meetings as well as UK ones. The club has sent a small team to the European Lure Coursing Championships for the last two years, where English dogs have proved competitive. This should be a fun meeting. You will need to bring your own refreshments although bacon and sausage rolls will be available first thing and there is a cafe half a mile down the road, open from 10.30 a.m. Please let the Secretary know if you are planning to come: tracy@uksighthoundsport.com. More information about the club and forthcoming meetings at uksighthoundsport.com We would love to have more Salukis at our meetings and hope very much that some sporting owners will join us for trials (it is not necessary to join the club to run). And if anyone knows any owners of rare/unrecognised breed sighthounds like Galgos, Azawakh, Chart Polski, please would you pass on the invitation.” Every Sunday there is the opportunity to give your Saluki a run at a very safe venue, The Bicester Schooling Track. There seems to be a few Salukis that are attending and having a great time. The Greyhounds run from 9am to 11am and after that Salukis are welcomed. I understand that there is food available to purchase. The charge for running your dogs is £5.00 and they can run in singles or pairs.
