Just before Crufts, and a very quiet period for Saluki news wise.  Congratulations to Adele Walton Haddon on her Papsi (Badavie Don Peppino At Ilsham (IMP SWED)) Winning Best of Breed this past weekend at Newark Open Show.  Our commiserations to Denise Garratt and Sharon Oakey on loosing their lovely Lady Penelope (Inchydone Memories of my God from Caryna).  Saying good bye is never easy especially when they are so young.

A big thank you to Michelle Ulyatt and the SGHC for the ‘newsletter’ we have received.  Most of the information included, I had previously noted in these notes but, just the same it is good to read it again in this format.  If you are a member of the Club and have not received a copy, please contact, Michelle Ulyatt and let her know.

Michael, myself and the dogs have been enjoying visiting dog parks in our area.  Quite a number have sprung up in the last couple of years.   They seem to vary in size, the smallest we have visited has been 3 acres with the largest 9 acres.  They vary in what the offer, for example the 3-acre field has double gates so your dogs enter the field from a secure area with a sign letting people know not to enter, free poop-bags on tap.  While it is located near a busy highway, fencing is secure, dogs cannot go under or over.  There is a hut with a picnic table.  Some areas have showers to hose dogs down before getting in cars.  I have even heard that there are facilities for hot drinks.  Some have toilets for humans and some do not.  Running your dogs in these compounds are very affordable.  It is a god-sent for hounds that can sometimes be not the most biddable.  Thankfully, they are yours without any other dogs for the duration of your visit.
