Caroline Pickering has messaged with some information on the Northern Saluki Club Championship Show which will be held on Sunday, 7thApril 2019.  Judging will be Lotta Brun.  There are 77 dogs and bitches with 5 Not for Competition.  Total entries are 84.  The show will be held at the Alferton Leisure Centre, Alfreton, Derby, which I understand has an on site café which sells both hot and cold food.  The Club will be holding their fantastic raffle hosted by Caroline.  This year there will not be any Stakes Classes during the lunch time but instead there will be a parade of rescued dogs.

Pam & Stewart Mottershaw recently attended the KC of Jersey Winter Championship Show. Their Saluki, Irish CH Ulmarra Naa ( Sydney ) was BOB and Hound Group Winner, gaining the Jersey CC and also qualifying him for the Channel Islands DOG OF THE YEAR Finals .
The judge was Dianna Spavin who later awarded Sydney 3rd Best in Show.  Sydney was bred in Ireland by Lynda Dunn . His Sire is Multi Ch Ulmarra Ciub Oighear ; his Dam is CH Kaukab Djaal Lhilal At Ulmarra.  Congratulations to Sydney and the Mottershaws.

I have just heard from Connie De Souza.  After a long and difficult time she has had to say goodbye to her beloved Jai ( Sufeina Al Ain). Because of Jai’s illness Connie has chosen not to leave his side. She would like me to thank his breeder, Buzz Faber for entrusting him and his brother to her care.  She says it has been an honour for her to have lived with them and a privilege to have been the opportunity to get to know the Saluki and from the best of breeders.  She was lucky that following a horrendous prognosis of 2-3 weeks on the 12thSeptember, Jai remained with her until now.  Saying goodbye was probably the hardest decision she has ever made. Connie would like time for her and Heidi to grieve his loss.  Rest in Peace, Jai.

On a lighter note, SGHC Limited Show and AGM will be held on Sunday 14thApril at the Steventon Village Hall. Steventon, Abington Ox133 6AA.  Judging at the Limited Show will be Pip Buswell.  The Club would appreciate donations of cakes as per usual.  If you are planning to attend only the AGM and would like lunch, there will be refreshments, both hot and cold.
