Another busy weekend with Paignton & District Fanciers Association.  Saluki were
Scheduled to show after 125 Whippets.  We could not show earlier, even if there was another ring available, as the two breeds had the same judge.
The judge elect was Miss E Haapaniemi from Finland.  She obviously was having a long day but you would never have known it as she had a smile on her face plus was very affable with the exhibitors.  Both judges which we have had from Finland this year, where the quality is very high, have commented on how pleased they were to find such nice dogs here.  The entry for Salukis at Paignton was very low (14) but she felt her winners could compete with the best in her country.
 
BCC, BOB Hound Group 4 Went to Debbie Copperthwaite’s Ch Alcaliphs Belisama with the RBCC went to Mary Sanders Parker’s Ch Heart & Soul jp Nashwa Classicus JW (IMP). DCC for his 20th CC went to Linda Aldous & Jeannette Glaister’s Ch Jay jp Sea Bird El Panjsher JW ((MP).  RDCC Went to Mike & Jean Strong’s Xerxes Omar Ter Dolen (IMP BEL.  Well done all!!
 
On the way down to Paignton we stopped for a coffee and a break.  We were parked
Next to a blue Jaguar.  I took little notice of the man who seemed to be fiddling with
his car until he turned to me to ask if our dog was a Saluki.  I said yes, he said his
Mother had Salukis.  I of course asked who his mother was, which he replied Christina Ormsby.  I looked again at the man then said Jeremy?  We sat together For a lengthily conversation, catching up.  
 
Not long ago with had a similar experience at a motorway service.  A woman in
a British Airways uniform came up to me saying her mother had Salukis.    I being me asked
who her mother was, she said Rosemary Lewis.  I proceeded to tell her We live in her grandmother’s house.  
 
Off on Friday to Bournemouth Championship show.  Entry, 13 for Jenny Dove.  
Hope all those going to German Sighhound Show at Donaueschingen show have a wonderful time.
