Sadly, I have read of the passing of Mrs Rosemary Hill of Hekla Salukis.  Her
Husband and partner in Salukis, Brian, preceded her in passing.  Jenny and Norman Ziman purchased from the Hills a red male who became one of the most
predominant males of that period.  He was Ch Hekla Royal Brigadier of Fargaze.
He was born in 1979 at a time when competition in the Saluki ring was very competitive. His first CC was from the well-known hound specialist Judy de Casembroot, 2nd Hope Water and 3rd Harry Jordan. He was used on 8 bitches
Producing many champion offspring. Through many English line his legacy is still to be seen.  The Hills made up his sire as a champion, he was Ch. Wildspray of Daxlore of Hekla.  Our condolences to her family at this sad time.
 
18th July will be a full-on day on the 2026 Saluki Calendar.  Entry numbers for the Hound Assoc Championship Show have been posted.  Judging us will be breed 
Specialist Jean Luc Lemouzy (Al Zubeydia Salukis, France). Salukis will be 
Judged in ring 11 with and entry of 28 dogs, 34 bitches total 62 dogs.  Post the 
HA show, John & Adele Walton Haddon have invited all to join them for a toast and
Nibbles celebrating their ‘golden anniversary’  
 
After HA judging the SGHC will be holding their Open Show.  Judging will be Elaine Sidney with a great entry of 53 dogs making an entry of 71.  Janet Steel will be there with the magazine stall.  Please check out our new items, the lovely Gingerberry jewellery, books and other items.  Also, you can discuss with Janet the
2027 magazine, articles and adverts.
 
SHOW OPENS AT 7.00 JUDGING WILL START AT 9AM

Jeannette Glaister on behalf of the SGHC has posted:
 “Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances Frank Farrar has had to withdraw from judging our Autumn Championship Show on 24th October 2026. This is unfortunate as he was looking forward to undertaking the appointment and would have drawn a good entry because of his time with the breed.
 
The committee are delighted to announce that the show will now be judged by Karin Hedberg. Karin is well known and respected in the breed, and was successful in the last members ballot for our Championship Show judges in 2028. Therefore, this simply brings her popular appointment forward.”
 
A reminder that entries are closing on 20th August for South Eastern Hound Club
Open Show.  Our late summer show, gathering and picnic. Show will be held on Sunday 6tg September, judging will be Judith Ayrton.   
 
2027 is a big year for The Saluki Club of America”. They will be celebrating their centennial.  They have posted the following schedule

– Be there for the Centennial of AKC Breed Recognition and our Club's Founding !

• The Saluki Timeline and historical displays

• Special Guest Lecture by AKC Museum of the Dog curator, Mr. Alan Fausel

• Continuous theatre show of world-wide, historic Saluki art

• And in New York City — a special, desert hound art exhibit, AKC Museum of the Dog, Feb.-Jun. 2027.

• Our Conformation judge is Cecilia Andersson, (Barakisch Salukis), Sweden, and Sweepstakes is Sara Winsted U.S.A. (Blue Nile Salukis)

It will be a week filled with pre-Specialty activities and then events including, futurity, breeders showcase, and performance, Top Twenty, country of origin clothing exhibition, junior events, vendors, breeder discussion forum, judge’s education, auction, banquet, and more!
