We have had our first injections which reminds me of the injections we give puppies at 8 weeks. We have to wait for that second shot plus one week before we can put our feet on the ground. With the announcements made last week by Boris Johnson it appears that we will be able to be out and about this summer. With that news I have received a message from Carolyn McCormick Smith that the Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club has permission from the Kennel Club to hold their Open and Limited Show on the 27thJune. The venue will be the Dobermann Club Training and Showground, Digswell Herts AL6 0BU. Judging the Open Show will be Carolyn McCormick Smith and the Limited Show will be Susan Rhodes. It has been as long time so we shall look forward to the schedules coming through our mailbox. OPEN SHOW WINNER (OSW) TITLE MOVES TO END OF DOG’S NAME. The Kennel Club board has approved a proposal from the Show Executive Committee that the Open Show Winner (OSW) title be repositioned at the end of a dog’s name rather than at the beginning. The OSW award was introduced by the KC at the start of 2019 among a series of measures designed to improve open show scene and recognise exhibitors ‘achievements. Other measures introduced have included the Show Certificate of Excellence (ShCEx) and Veteran Warrant awards as well as breed supported entry classes. The OSW title is a special award given only to dogs which have won both Junior Warrant (JW) title and the Show Certificate of Excellence (ShCEx) award. The owner does not need to apply for the OISW certificate as it is sent to the automatically by the Kennel Club once the two qualifying titles have been successfully claimed. The UK Sighthound Sport has had to cancel their Spring Championship for March but they will now be holding it on 25thApril. The Summer Championship weekend will be on the 26-27thJune. On the Saturday there will be trials and a BBQ. Unfortunately, that date is the same date the SGHC has rescheduled their Open and Limited show. With the loss of 12 months of activities I think the last six months is going to be very busy. The 3rdof October will be UKSS’ National Championships. Someone’s head will be rolling in Windsor at the Crown Office. It is really heart breaking that after the year we have had, that, Windsor Championship Dog Show has a problem with their booking for the show venue. Stated on Windsor dog show site are the dates for their upcoming show as the 1st,2nd,3rd and 4thJuly. Looking at the Windsor Horse Show site they say their show is cancelled from their usual date in May to the 1-4 July. A couple of additional show cancellations for this year are Welsh Kennel Club 2021 Championship Show and the Reading and District Open Show which is usually held a day or two before SCCS at the Newbury showground. here to edit.
