25TH NOVEMBER 2016
Congratulations to the Kennel Club, they have listened to our voices regarding the ‘Reciprocal Agreement on Judges’. Jeff Horswell made a presentation on the proposal which had been accepted by a majority at the KC’s AGM last May. “The proposal was ‘that the KC withdraw from the unwanted, unneeded and patently unfair judges reciprocal agreement that it has ill advisedly entered into with the FCI and return to the status quo which served us so well” “This means that FCI judges will have to have judged at International shows in at least their own and two other countries and will in the future, require to complete a judging contract that lists the relevant experience in the breed concerned. The FCI judges will be submitted to the KC where it will be reviewed at Judges Committee level before approval is give by JSC and the Board. FCI member Kennel Clubs may require UK judges to go through a similar procedure.” In other countries, for example the American Kennel Club, judges are required to have judged at least 5 years before they are approved to judge at one of our Championship Shows. We thank the KC for this sensible move even though it is too late for some of the Clubs with upcoming judges with questionable qualifications.
