With all the planning in the world, things do not necessarily turn out accordingly. Two weeks ago I was reading cookbooks for our Thanksgiving dinner, which was the following week. Last year we were expecting guests from Finland to help us share the festive feat. This was called off at the last moment because Michael contacted a stomach virus. This year, different people, all was going to be fabulous. Unbeknownst to me there was a problem, it started on Wednesday at Tesco (where else) I became ill. I became so ill that an ambulance was sent here and took me to the hospital. Thanksgiving dinner over for another year and a gallbladder operation to look forward too. So if you see me a little green at the gills at LKA, you will know why.
Thankfully John Hudson has come up trumps with an end of the year report.
John writes: “LKA entry is in so I have been able to calculate the average entry of Salukis at Championship Shows over the past year. It comes to 40.9 dogs over the 26 shows where Salukis were awarded CC’s. (There were three more than last year when the KC increased the number of shows giving CCs to all breeds). So the decline in Saluki entries continues. It was 44.3 last year, 53.1 five years ago and 73.1 ten years ago. If you remove the high scoring shows- Crufts and the breed club shows- the average entry goes down to 34.2 dogs.
