It looks like three Salukis will be representing GB in the International Lure Trial championships to be held in The Netherlands on the 21st to 24th October 2021.
Let us hope the predictions are wrong, not another lockdown and our team can attend.  Good luck to those that are planning on going.
They are Oxana Grigorenko’s Imhotep Rears Natural Jasmine (IMP), Natasha Hamilton’s Alishamar Roxanne (IMP) and Nicole Ward’s Nicolefarhi Del Borghino (IMP).  Oxana has sent the following report:

“Last weekend of May and what a fabulous weekend it was.  Saluki team represented by Altai, Artie, Jazz, Nicole and Zac travelled to Somerset to take part in UK Sighthound Sport Spring Championship.  It was held on Sunday at Raleigh’s Cross over the distance of 700 metres.  The Competition was intense, Salukis were very keen and ran exceptionally well, the score spread was very tight. The race results 1st and LCC Imhotep Rears Natural Jasmine (owner O Chippendale, 2nd Allishamar Roxane JW (owner N Hamilton) 3rd Shazad Zaki Tel Dolen (owner M & J Strong) 4th Nocolefarhl Del Borghino (owner L, Ward) 5th Qazal Sarbaz Har Kala Rachi (owners M Shaverneva and S Rhodes). Congratulations to all 5 podium winners.  All Salukis ae qualified to represent UK team in RU Championship in Netherlands. “
“Apart from seasoned athletes, the group of up-and-coming talented youngsters that included Lova, Mahla, Nisa and also Abi came to the meeting on Saturday to run the clearing trails.  All have demonstrated great enthusiasm for the lure, focus on the job and most of all they loved it.  All have been successfully cleared.

Hound Association is holding their championship show on the 17th July at the Stafford County Showground.  Entries for 2021 are now open at Higham Press, closing date is Wednesday 30th June.  The Saluki judge is hound specialist Jerry Robertson
The HA has posted the following: “The Hound Association looks forward to welcoming hound friends old and new to Stafford County Showground on July 17th when we are also grateful to be hosting ten breed club shows.
Entries are online only and exhibitors should note they are entering an outdoor show with no wet weather facilities. It is possible that, subject to national guidelines and the agreement of the local authority, this may change but this cannot be guaranteed and any changes to the situation may not be known until literally days before the show and after entries have closed.”
Best in Show judge for the Hound Assoc is Age Gjetness.  As we know from Southern Counties experience, expecting judges from other countries is not straight forward at this time so we shall have to wait and see.
“On the entry form there is a tick box for those exhibitors who would like to bring a gazebo/tent for personal use. This will help the show management team plan its final layout, with designated spaces, once final exhibitor numbers are known. However, exhibitors should note again that at this stage we cannot guarantee the use of personal gazebos/tents as this too will be subject to further local approval. Our plans include parking as close to exhibitors breed rings as possible.
The usual caravan and camping facilities will be available which will also be subject to pitches being set up in a Covid appropriate manner and pitches will only be available with advance booking with your entry. The site will be open from the morning of July 15th and will close promptly at 12 noon on Monday July 19th.
We are working tirelessly to stage Houndshow for you all and ask you to bear with us both now and on the day as we work towards our goals. We will keep exhibitors up to date with progress and any changes as we move closer to the show. Entries are open!”

Immediately after the HA judging, the Northern Saluki Club will be holding their Championship Show.  Judging will be Dr John Hudson (Glenoak Salukis).  For further information on the NSC show please contact Christine Harrison on 07595154541 Entries close on the 2nd July.  Schedules can be seen for both shows on Higham Press’ web site.

The Spring & Summer issues of “The Saluki” the magazine of the SGHC will be available in time for the Limit and Open Show on the 27th June.  Contact Diana Klein if you want to purchase a copy or if you want to subscribe.  Digital copies will be available at £6.00.  Subscription for 2 issues a year is £20.00 UK, £25.00 Europe and £30.00 for the rest of the world.  For further information please contact the editor, Diana Klein email editorsalukimagazine@gmail.com  tel. 44(0)7751061719

Reviewing my notes of the 28th May 2021 which sadly contained the obituary of the Breed record holder, Ch Classicus Cassander JW Sh CM, I unfortunately omitted some facts regarding him.  He was born on the 7thApril 2010.  His breeder was Mrs Mary Sanders Parker.  His sire is Ch Baghdad Karim IMP AUS) Sh CM and his dam is Ch Khalils Phaedra of Classicus ShCM (IMP SWE).  This litter had great success, not only in the GB with Cassander being the breed record holder but his sister Concordia also became a GB Champion. Classicus C’Dale became a champion in the USA, Classicus Khalils Canta and Classicus Khalils Changrala both became champions in Sweden.

Results from Westminster dog show, BOB was GCHC Aurora’s Rhythm Of My Heart with BOS to GCHB Ch Aziz Reatha Allihan.  Aziz Reatha Allihan was born in Finland.  Her sire is Ch Baghdad Karim (IMP AUS) Sh CM.  Congratulation to Karim and his owners, Ann & Steve Ham, Paula Bockman-Chato and Mrs Elliott-Ross.
