We are just back from a lovely weekend ‘up north’ attending The Northern Saluki Club Championship Show and Darlington Championship Show.  Darlington had allocated the NSC a ring adjacent to the ring to be used for their show.  Our judge, Mrs. Fran Mitchell, was judging Wire-Haired Dacshunds before Salukis.  So, our judge elect, John Walton-Haddon, for the NSC started at 9.00.  It worked out well.  The weather looked overcast to begin but soon cleared after a couple of drops of rain.  There was very much a party atmosphere all day with a good entries for both judges.  BIS, BOB went to Mary Sanders Parker’s Classicus Olympia for her first CC.  She was born on the 31st July 2019 and her breeder is her owner.  Her sire is Ch Classicus Azim for Bodercot and her dam Ch Noushzad Claudia-Classicus (IMP).  RBCC went to Liana Phillips’ Vidana Amira S Berega Turi (IMP RUS) Sh CM, Sh Cex.  DCC, RBIS for his third and qualifying CC went to Peggy Postma’s Fernlark Odyssey.  He was born on the 2nd October 2017.  His breeders are Mr KA and Mrs MM Goulden.  His sire is Ch Fernlark By Design JW and his dam Ch Glenoak Kira of Fernlark.  RDCC went to the newly crowned Ch Classicus Azim For Bordercot. Owned by Rosalie Brady.  Best Puppy and BPIS was Jeannette Glaister’s Impala Zia Dexter The Gambler (IMP USA). RBPIS went to our own Luachmnhar Jadira Kasaque. Best Veteran was Charrioak Sheerzam owned by Hilary Davies & Christine Harrison.

Our second show, Darlington, was Fran Mitchell’s first-time awarding CCs in Salukis.
BOB went to Hilary Davies, Christine Harrison & Mary Sanders Parkers’ Classicus Alchemy for Charrioak JW with the RBCC to Denise Garratt & Sue Oakey’s Caryna Remeny.  DCC went to Christine Campling’s Classicus Octavius for his second CC with the  RDCC to Rosalie Brady’s Ch Classicus Azim for Bodercot..Best Puppy was our own Luachmhar Jadira Kasaque and Best Veteran  plus 3rd in Veteran Group went to Denise Garratt & Sue Oakey’s Ch Caryna Neferti JW Sh CM.
What a lovely day it was after the difficulties of the past year.

Nikki Hill has sent me the following regarding SWF: “Saluki Welfare in Lockdown.  While most other pet rescue organisations closed their doors, Saluki Welfare continued their work helping Salukis in need.  Working within Covid-19 restrictions, between January 2020 and April 2021 the Wardens arranged a total of 38 rehomings and raised a sum in the region of £10,500 for Saluki Welfare Fund.
Home checking had to be done by video link of course, and they used professional pet couriers much of the time.  There were some exceptions in the lockdown regulations regarding animal rescue, which helped a little. And of course, there was always help and advice to be had on the telephone.  So well done Saluki Welfare and thank you!”
