SALUKI BREED NOTES WEEKENDING 25TH AUGUST 2023.
Late summer bank holiday so the notes are being written earlier then usual. The summer has passed in a flash, which might be down to my age or the fact that we seemed to have lost it around the beginning of July. With all the rain, I must admit that our garden is looking very lush with beautiful green grass; which, because of the abundance of rain is growing, needing cutting daily. The following has been extracted from the SGHC web site: “The Committee is keen to hear your views on what lure coursing opportunities it should offer, how regularly events should take place and in what format. Please complete the Lure Coursing Survey at this link: https://us21.list-manage.com/survey?u=11391d3d61caaeaa846014966&id=f6e6039519 or request a paper copy from the Secretary. The Committee has invested in a lure machine and is working toward offering members’ events. We are now looking for volunteers who would be willing to help with setting up courses and operating the lure. If you would be interested in lending a hand at future practice events or lure coursing meets, please contact the Acting Secretary at secretary@salukiclub.co.uk.” Welsh Kennel Club will be holding their champ show this coming weekend with Age Gjetnes judging with an entry of 19. I do recall that he judged at that show just before lockdown. Interesting lockdown has now become a reference term. Bournemouth Championship Show was held last Saturday. There was no benching but not as crowded as Southern Counties. It very much reminded me of one of the North America dog shows. Perhaps in the future, shows with a small entry need not be benched, but the larger entry shows still must have the benching. Something to think about. Judging Salukis at Bournemouth was Mike Caple. His BOB was Linda Aldous & Jeannette Glaister’s Ch Jay JP Sea Bird El Panjsher (IMP) JW with RDCC to Debbie Copperthwaite’s Ch Al Caliphs Anjal Bey. BCC for her second CC with to Denise Garratt & Sharon Oakey’s Caryna Esperanza with the RBCC to our own Luachmhar Jadira Kasaque. Best Puppy and 4th in the Puppy Group with to Mark Cannon & Freya Wickstead’s Caryna Stephano To Aboyomi. Best Special Beginners and 1st in Special Beginner group was Jarlettes Special Lover owned by Megan Alecock. Well done all A reminder, South East Hound Show entries will be closing at the end of the month. Classes will be sponsored by the SGHC. Just after judging will be the annual picnic.
