Recently we were having coffee with a friend discussing the latest KC rules and regulations.  Our friend, judges just one breed, wanted to continue judging so he joined the Academy and paid the £26.00 fee.  Then the KC had their rethink and revised the fee for those judge that judge just one breed to £10.00.  As they KC has changed it’s game plan, does that mean that I friend will receive a refund for the outstand £16.00?

In ‘Our Dogs’ I have read that Dr Ivor Moss, after 40 years of membership of the KC is now being honored with an Honorary Membership.  Congratulations to Ivor.

The KC ‘Breed Record Supplement’ for January to March 2018 has arrived.  There was only one new litter registration with seven puppies.   Three Importations; Ber Ch Barbey Hector at Dragonsmoon (IMP BMU) , Garamyiyas Rostam (IMP SWE)  and Ulmarra Yolo at Sinursa (IRC) . Three Export Pedigrees, one to Norway and two to Austria.  Two new Champions, Canerikie Catalina and Velourias Viva Vivienne.  One Junior Warrant to Canerikie Vivaldi for Stalwart and two Show Certificates of Merit.  They are Classicus Britannia and Vidana Amira S Berega Turi (IMP RUS)

On-line entries to the SGHC Open Show can still be made up until midnight on Sunday 27th May.  This the SGHC’s summer garden party with lots of activities going on.  There will be the judging of the photographs for the 2019 calendar .
It is not too late to enter this, photos are to be sent to helenahaywood191@btinternet.com.  They need to be of good quality and sent in jpeg format.  Entries will be taken up until midnight on 4th June.  There will be a raffle, welfare stand and other canine orientated items for sale.  The day will culminate with a bring and share lunch. The co-ordination of the lunch is Berni Hetherington.  So please contact him to let him know what you are planning to bring.  His telephone number is 01582 593881.  18TH MAY 2018.

Tanya Stevens has contacted me, informing that David Perkins of Pennyworth Salukis, has passed away.  We first met David and his late wife Kay in the late 70s as they had returned from living in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.  David worked as an engineer.  When they returned they had a couple of Afghans, but they became smitten with Salukis when they met Jim Kenyon and his beautiful smooth champion bitch, Mazuri Lail.  When she was mated to Don Wieden’s Eng/Am/Ch Sedeki Barre, David and Kay obtained Kaus Kezia.  She was a stunning, black and silver bitch and Kay won 16 CCs, with her, in very tough competition.   Her ‘call’ name was Penny, the beginnings of the line of very beautiful Salukis to be called Pennyworth.  David was a very quiet man, very much involved, but remaining in the background.  He qualified as a championship show judge, giving CCs at least twice in the UK, including the SGHC Championship Show and Skoklosters in Sweden.  David died in hospital after a short illness.  His last Saluki was a black smooth bitch he obtained from Sweden,  I think in his heart he was always a lover of the smooth variety.

The funeral will take place at 3pm on 22nd May at the Garden of England Crematory, Sheppey Way, Bobbing, Nr Sittingbourne  ME9 8GZ.  No flowers please but donations would be welcomed in David Perkins name to the Alzheimer’s Society.  After there will be a get together, a quick call to Tanya Stevens would be appreciated for numbers.  Her telephone no is: 08948043656

Entries for the SGHC Open Show postal entries are still open until Saturday 19th (1st Class Postmark) but you will still be able to enter, online, if you miss that closing date at www.fossedata.co.uk until midnight 27th May 2018.  Entries for the exciting photo competition will be accepted up to midnight 4thJune.  They can be either black/white or colour but must be full quality in Jpeg format.  Please sent them to helenahaywood191@btinternet.com

Coordinating the Bring and Share lunch, which will be held after Best In Show is Berni Hetherington on tel. 01582 593881.  There will be a short break in the judging between the dogs and bitches.  Coffee/tea and cakes will be available to purchase all day from the clubhouse.  We would very much appreciate donation of cakes for this purpose.

SGHC’s members page is now available on ‘facebook’.  If you would like to join please go to the site on your computer and request to join.

National Show at Birmingham was held last Friday in blustery weather.  A week for before it was 27 degrees; not unusual for this time of the year, for the dogs sake I think the colder weather was better.  Judging us was Dr Ron James.  I must  compliment Dr James as I felt his mannerism and approach  to the dogs was very positive and the dogs reacted in a positive way.  BCC, BOB and Hound Group 3 (Judge Mark Cocozza) was Manseel, Duddell and Johnston’s Ch Canerikie  Catalina with the RBCC to Anne & Paul Simmin’s Hisilome’s Keepsake for Cranstal (Imp)  DCC went to Michelle and Kevin Goulden’s Ch Fernlark by Design JW with RDCC to Debbie Copperthwaite’s Ch Noushzad Caliph (Imp).  Best Puppy was Dr DA & PA Ulyatt’s Fernlark Legend of Cornhaze with best Veteran to Mrs KA Williams Ch, Bermuda Ch Ulmarra Tropical Ice at Winton.  Well done all!
